Additionally today, by way of the Papal Almoner Konrad Krajewski, Pope Francis has given the special gift of an electric scooter to an elderly disabled couple on the outskirts of Rome.

Of note, Pope Francis also approved an ad experimentum statute which on September 1st, 2016 suppresses the existing Pontifical Council for the Laity and the Pontifical Council for the Family, and creates of a new dicastery in their place “for the Laity, Family and Life” (full text in Italian) and issued a Motu Proprio letter to clarify procedures for engaging with bishops involved sexual abuse (full text in Italian, summary video).

A Mass for the Jubilee for Priests

Today, to conclude the Jubilee for Priests, Pope Francis celebrated Mass at St. Peter’s Square and gave a homily (full text, full video, summary video).

Organized this week at the Vatican is a summit titled the Judges’ Summit on Human Trafficking and Organized Crime, to undo human trafficking across the Earth and this evening Pope Francis attended and spoke at a portion of the summit (full text, summary video).

Mercy In Its Various Aspects

As part of the Jubilee for Priests, Pope Francis prepared three meditations on the topic “mercy in its various aspects.” The first meditation was read today at the Basilica of St. John Lateran (extensive text in English, full text, full video), the second today at the Basilica of St. Mary Major (extensive text in English, full text, full video), and the third at St. Paul Outside-the-Walls (extensive text in English, full text, full video). This morning Pope Francis met with a delegation of Jains (full text, summary video).

A Grace You Can Implore Daily In Prayer

Today at St. Peter’s Square, in honor of the Jubilee of Deacons, Pope Francis celebrated Mass and gave a homily on being a faithful servant (full text, summary video), and after Mass, he gave an Angelus Address (full text, full video, summary video).

Moreover today, he received in audience Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle. The following day, Cardinal Tagle spoke at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome.

The big news of today is that this evening, for the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (or Solemnity of Corpus Christi), Pope Francis celebrated Mass and gave a homily at the Basilica of Saint John Lateran, after which he processed via Merulana, to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where he gave a solemn Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament (full text, full video, summary video 1, summary video 2).
