Today Pope Francis presided and spoke at the opening of the 69th General Assembly of the Italian Bishops’ Conference (the “CEI”) in the Synod Hall at the Vatican (full text, full video, summary video).

The Joy of Proclaiming the Gospel

Today Pope Francis celebrated Pentecost Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica and gave a homily on being orphans no more, but now children of God (full text, full video, summary video).

Today at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis held a Jubilee Audience and spoke on the meaning of having pity (full text, full video). Outside of that, he also had one private audience.

Of messages, he sent letter to Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski in his capacity as Pope Francis’ Special Envoy to the Belarus National Eucharistic Congress, May 24-26, 2016 (full text in Latin). He also sent a second letter to Cardinal Grocholewski for the consecration of a newly built church in Torun, Poland, to be dedicated on May 18th, the 96th birthday of St. John Paul II (full text).

Building of a World of Authentic Solidarity

Today Pope Francis received some audiences (more complete list in Italian), including:

What Women’s Consecrated Life Can Do

At Casa Santa Marta this morning, Pope Francis celebrated Mass and gave a homily on the value of not gossiping (more details, summary video).

Today Pope Francis received a number of audiences, including:

Their Imperial Highnesses Prince and Princess Akishino of Japan, and entourage

Also during this audience Pope Francis told the group that he would establish a commission to study the possibility of having female deacons (more details, summary video). Our Every Word And Gesture

Before his General Audience, today Pope Francis received in audience His Grace Baba Edmond Brahimaj, world leader of the Bektashi community, Albania.

Today at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis held a General Audience and spoke on the mercy and fraternity of God the Father in relation to the parable of the prodical son (full text, full video, summary video). Also, he greeted various pilgrim groups in attendance, especially Polish pilgrims, and asked for “prayer and dialogue” in Brazil amid political imbroglios happening there. Also here is a good video of some newlyweds who attended the audience.

As well today, Pope Francis met with a group of high school students who’ve been using 3D printers to create prosthetic limbs for child amputees in Africa, and he received a special white Table Tennis table from the President of the Italian Table Tennis Federation and managing director of the Table Tennis manufacturer Killerspin.

The Precious Gift In My Prayer

Today overlooking St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis gave a Regina Coeli Address focused on being post-resurrection witnesses and also focusing on mothers – due to it being Mother’s Day (full text, full video, summary video). Love Leads To Openness And Sharing

Today Pope Francis received a number of audiences, including:
