Easter Sunday 2016 – A Bearer of Christ

Today Pope Francis presided at Easter Mass, (full video), and then from the central balcony overlooking St. Peter’s Square he delivered an Urbi et Orbi address (full text, full video). Following that, he also gave a Paschal greeting (full text in Italian).

Relatedly, as Pope Francis was at St. Peter’s Square, the square was decorated for Easter with about 35,000 flowers from the Netherlands (summary video).

Life Has Conquered Death

Sentiments Of Faith, Hope, Love

Today at St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis presided at celebration of the Passion of our Lord at which Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, Preacher of the Pontifical Household, gave a homily (full text, full video, summary video).

In the evening, Pope Francis traveled to the Colosseum in Rome, where he presided at the Stations of the Cross or Via Crucis (full text of meditations) and he concluded the ceremony with a prayer (full text of prayer, full video, summary video).

As well, as a part of the Via Crucis, the Papal Almoner accompanied by some volunteers distributed sleeping bags throughout Rome to those sleeping on the streets — as a small gift of Pope Francis. Annointed with the Oil of Gladness

Today at St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis celebrated Chrism Mass at which the Chrism oils were blessed and he gave a homily regarding how “mercy restores everything” and on “God’s superabundant forgiveness” (full text, full video, summary video).

Also today, Pope Francis traveled to The Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers (C.A.R.A.) at Castelnuovo di Porto and celebrated the in coena Domini Mass, which begins the Easter Triduum and delivered a homily regarding that we are all of us, together, as God’s children (full text, additional text in Italian, full video, summary video). Love That Goes “To The End Without End”

Today at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis had a General Audience and spoke regarding the days building up to Easter (full text, full video). Also during the audience, he asked for prayers for Belgium.

It was reported that Pope Francis blessed a statue, installed at the Vatican, of a homeless Jesus on a bench (summary video).

Also today it was revealed in a press conference with Father Federico Lombardi that for humanitarian purposes the Vatican Archives are moving forward with Pope Francis’ plans to release information regarding the 1976-1983 period of dictatorship in Argentina.

Palm Sunday 2016 – Loved By Him First

Men and Women of Communion

This morning in the Redemptoris Mater Chapel, Pope Francis attended the latest Lenten sermon by preacher to the Papal household, Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa (full text).

Additionally, it was reported that Pope Francis signed and wrote a dedication in a copy of his new book “Dear Pope Francis” and the copy was given to the Vatican-owned Bambino Gesù Children’s hospital.
